Camp Schodack believes in the power of kids
and we urge both them and their parents to use and enjoy our
website. While we encourage the interactive nature of online
media, we strive to educate parents and kids about how to appropriately
safeguard their privacy when traveling on the Web. Camp Schodack
is committed to complying fully with the Children's Online
Privacy Protection Act of 1998. Our information collection
practices are described below. We urge kids to check with their
parents before entering information on any website and we urge
parents to discuss with their kids restrictions regarding the
online release of personal information to anyone they don't
know.
There are areas of Camp Schodack where some personally identifiable information
is asked for and collected (e.g. camper forum). We request only the information
that is required to ensure that kids can effectively join in our activities
and do not condition a child's participation in an online activity on the disclosure
of more information than is reasonably necessary. This information may consist
of Name, address, e-mail address, phone number, etc. Camp Schodack also never
sells, markets, trades or otherwise shares personally identifiable information
with any third party. If there is any change in this policy in the future,
Camp Schodack will notify a child's parent to get his or her consent. Parents
have the right to consent to the collection and use of their child's personal
information without consenting to the disclosure of that information to third
parties.
The camper forum is a secure area for Schodack campers to communicate by posting
messages. The child must be registered with camp first, and his or her full
name will print on any messages posted. This entire area is located on a
secure server, and is password protected. The only persons granted access
to this area are present Schodack campers & staff members, and the board
is constantly monitoring by authorized Camp personnel (See security below)
to guard against misuse. Persons found to be using the forum inappropriately
will be immediately barred from further entry.
At Camp Schodack, our goal is to help parents ensure that their kids have a
safe and fun online experience. That's why we've set up a system by which
parents can print out and mail or fax us a form that allows them to review
any identifiable information collected about their child, have this information
deleted, and/or request that there be no further collection or use of their
child's information. You can link to the form from here. Camp Schodack takes
steps to verify the identify of anyone requesting information about a child
and to ensure that the person is in fact the child's parent or legal guardian.
Camp Schodack has taken steps to ensure that personally identifiable information
collected in the future is secure, including limiting the number of people
who have access to our database servers as well as electronic security systems
and password protections which guard against unauthorized access. Currently,
those who have access are: Acmenet.net - Web server, Paul Krouner - Owner,
Scott Merrow - Ass't. Director, Owen Pennant Jones - Ass't Director, & Laura
Piorkowski - Web Coordinator.
